Requirements

Pricing and payment

• Rates are per 24-hour day from the time of handover. Weekly and monthly rates are discounted; ask for a quote.
• Prices are quoted in US dollars with a birr equivalent at the day's bank rate. Pay in cash (USD or ETB), bank transfer, Telebirr, CBE Birr, or Visa and Mastercard. Card payments may carry a small processing fee.
• A booking is confirmed once we have agreed dates, vehicle and price in writing on WhatsApp, Telegram or email, and, for peak dates, once a deposit is paid.
• Driver service is priced per day on top of the vehicle rate. For overnight trips outside Addis Ababa, the driver's meals and accommodation are agreed in the quote.

Fuel and mileage

• Cars are handed over with an agreed fuel level and should be returned at the same level. Missing fuel is charged at the pump price plus a small refuelling fee.
• City rentals include generous daily mileage; out-of-town trips are quoted by route. Tell us your plans so the quote is right the first time.

Where you can drive

• Self-drive rentals cover Addis Ababa and surrounding regions on paved roads. Travel further afield, on unpaved roads or across borders needs written approval in advance.
• Night driving outside the city is strongly discouraged and may be excluded from cover; ask us before planning it.

Insurance and damage

• All vehicles carry Ethiopian third-party insurance as required by law, plus comprehensive cover arranged by us.
• For self-drive rentals the renter is responsible for an excess (the first part of any damage or loss), up to the value of the security deposit, unless we confirm otherwise in writing. Damage from negligence, driving under the influence, unauthorised drivers or use outside the agreed area is the renter's responsibility in full.
• In case of an accident: make sure everyone is safe, call us immediately on +251 92 116 3852, and do not move the vehicle until the traffic police have attended, as Ethiopian law and insurers require a police report.
• Breakdowns: call us. We arrange roadside help or a replacement vehicle as quickly as possible.

Changes and cancellations

• Free changes and cancellations up to 48 hours before pickup.
• Within 48 hours, one day's rental may be charged. No-shows are charged one day.
• Early returns are refunded for unused full days on weekly and monthly rentals, less any discount that no longer applies.

Pickup and return

• Pickup at Fitawrari Damtew St, Addis Ababa 1000, Ethiopia, or delivery to your hotel, home or Bole Airport. Delivery inside the city is free with a driver and a small fee for self-drive rentals.
• At handover we photograph the car together and note the fuel and odometer. At return we do the same, and the deposit is released once the car is checked.
• Traffic fines and parking charges incurred during the rental are the renter's responsibility.
